Mickey and Minnie Celebrate

Mickey and Minnie visited PIER 39 straight from Disneyland to promote Disney's "What Will You Celebrate" tour.  They gave away Mickey balloons, had a meet-and-greet, and gave visitors the chance to sign up to get free admission to the Disneyland Resort on their birthday.

    Tulips in Bloom

Our annual Tulipmania boasted a wide variety of tulips and floral arrangements just in time for spring.  These bulbs are planted beginning in December and included vibrant tulips such as Apricot Beauties, Texas Flames, Purple Princes, Flaming Parrots, Swan Wings, Burgundy Lace and more!  Tulipmania will return again February 10-15, 2010.

    RocketBoat Day on the Bay

RocketBoat kicked off the 2009 season with an official proclamation from Mayor Gavin Newson which named May 1, 2009 as "RocketBoat Day on the Bay".  More than 300 guests were invited by RocketBoat Mission Control to complete a "secret-mission", culminating with an exciting high-speed RocketBoat blast-off on San Francisco Bay.  Get blown away in May 2010 when RocketBoat returns to PIER 39.

49ers Rookies Take a Day Off

The 2009 49ers Rookie squad had been busy training for the upcoming football season tryouts and decided to take a day off to play at PIER 39.  During their stay, they stopped by the new Players Arcade & Sports Grill, took at wild ride on RocketBoat, checked out a Street Performer show, and sampled some tasty crab at Neptune's Palace.  Go Niners!

      Sea Lions Arrive in Droves

Record numbers of California sea lions hauled out on PIER 39's K-Dock in September.  The average number during the season reaches about 300, but this year six additional docks were added to accommodate the more than 1,700 sea lions.

      Fleet Week Soars

The low rumbling of the military jets soaring overhead PIER 39 was another reminder that it was Fleet Week in San Francisco!  The Blue Angels even stopped by the PIER for a special meet-and-greet with fans.

PIER 39 rallied together to raise more than $26,000 for Breast Cancer during the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Golden Gate Park.  The cause was especially close to the PIER 39 family as it was in memory of Alicia Vargas, our Vice President of Public Relations for 18 years.

What better way to bring 2009 to a close than to bring back the special guests who started the year with us - Mickey and Minnie!  They returned with Disneyland Ambassador, Danielle Dubois, for a very special Tree Lighting Celebration, and NBC Bay Area's Mike Inouye even brought the PIER some snow!
