Anniversary of the Sea Lions’ Arrival
PIER 39 commemorates the eighteenth anniversary of the sea lions’ arrival. Through the years, these playful pinnipeds have taken up residence to the delight of thousands of spectators. Each January, their numbers soar as hundreds of marine mammals return for the plentiful herring supply in San Francisco Bay. In addition to enjoying hundreds of sea lions in close proximity, visitors can talk with knowledgeable Marine Mammal Center docents and stop by the Whale Bus for a thorough educational experience. PIER 39’s K-Dock has been declared a “Watchable Wildlife” viewing area by the California Watchable Wildlife Project.
Wednesday, February 13 - Monday, February 18 Tulipmania
Tulipmania showcases thousands of tulips throughout both levels of PIER 39 including its waterfront parks. The unique color combinations and variety of tulips have become a traditional favorite for the past 28 years. The tulips are in clear view for the public to enjoy at any time or visitors are welcome to join complimentary landscaping tours that begin in the Entrance Plaza each day at 10:00 AM to learn more about planting, growing and simply enjoying tulips.

PIER 39 patriotically celebrates Independence Day with an afternoon line-up of popular local bands.

Viva Las Americas
Viva Las Americas celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month at PIER 39. This festive event showcases music and dance performances commemorating the artistry of Mexico, Central and South America. Mariachis strumming their guitars serenade visitors as they stroll throughout PIER 39. Fun for children includes traditional Latin American craft-making and face painting.

Fleet Week at PIER 39
Fleet Week is the Bay Area’s opportunity to pay tribute to the men and women of our nation’s Navy, Coast Guard and Marine services. This spectacular two day event features a parade of Navy ships, ship tours military displays, the Blue Angels Air Show and more.

Pumpkin Pandemonium
Ghoulish and giddy behavior is part of the fun as kids in costume trick or treat throughout PIER 39’s two levels at Pumpkin Pandemonium. Children 12 and under are welcome to visit the shops, restaurants and attractions to collect their sweets. Enjoy pumpkin carving demonstrations, children’s theater and face painting, as well as photo opportunities with frightful characters. Children are welcome to wander through the pumpkin patch and select a free pumpkin.

PIER 39 Holiday Tree Lighting
PIER 39’s Holiday Tree Lighting will feature Bay Area groups performing seasonal favorites from around the world. Enchanting entertainment will include festive traditions from Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa. PIER 39’s majestic tree, adorned with 400 glistening ornaments, 500 multi-colored bows and 2,000 twinkling lights will be illuminated in the Entrance Plaza.
