PIER 39

June 1, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Alicia Vargas, PIER 39, 415.705.5500

New This Summer at PIER 39 in San Francisco

June 2007 - Beginning in June 2007, visitors to San Francisco will find two new attractions to enjoy while visiting PIER 39.  San Francisco Bay views prevail while visitors sail aboard Blue & Gold Fleet’s new Escape From The Rock Cruise, and dine at the new Fog Harbor Fish House restaurant.

Escape from the Rock Cruise is a one and one-half hour journey that sails under the Golden Gate Bridge and then circles Alcatraz twice allowing passengers time to take photos and become captivated with every angle of this mysterious island.  They’ll hear chilling accounts from Alcatraz’s mobsters and notorious criminals about the murder and mayhem that made them permanent residents of the Rock.  This special San Francisco Bay tour is “fully-loaded” with sound effects and harrowing stories about Al Capone, Billy Cook, Clyde Johnson’s escape attempt, and undisclosed secrets from Alcatraz guard George Devincenzi himself.  The audio narration will transport passengers back to the days when this maximum-security prison was the most feared institution in the American penal system.

Blue & Gold Fleet’s Escape From The Rock Cruise departs from the PIER 39 Marina on weekdays at 12:45 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and on weekends at 12:00 p.m., 1:45 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.  Fares are:  Adults (19+) $25.00, Juniors (12-18) and Seniors (62+) $21.00, Children (5-11) $17.00, Family Pass (includes 2 Adult and any combination of up to 4 Junior or Children's tickets) $65.00. SPECIAL BONUS:  With every child ticket purchased, the party will receive one complimentary pair of 5x magnification Blue & Gold Fleet souvenir binoculars. For more information the public is invited to call 415.773.1188 or visit BlueandGoldFleet.com.

Additionally, Fog Harbor Fish House, is located on Level Two in the former Chic’s Seafood Restaurant.  The new restaurant with a full-bar will serve seafood, steaks, pasta, and fresh sourdough bread that will be baked in-house.  While dining indoors, visitors will take in the incredible views of San Francisco Bay.   Outdoors on the patio, visitors will be able to enjoy the live entertainment in the PIER 39 Entrance Plaza.  Fog Harbor Fish House will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. serving brunch on weekends.

Fog Harbor Fish House’s capacity is 200.  A private banquet room that seats 50, and a semi-private room that also seats 50 are perfect for group dining.  For reservations the public is invited to call 415.421.2442.

Respected restaurateur Scooter Simmons is the owner of Fog Harbor Fish House, Pier Market Seafood Restaurant, Wipeout Bar & Grill and San Francisco Coffee Roasting Co. at PIER 39.   Wipeout Bar & Grill will also be opening at Bon Air Center in Greenbrae this fall.  Simmons also owns Village Cafe at Santana Row in San Jose.   In 1986 he founded CHEVYS, Mexican Restaurant chain that he later sold to PepsiCo. in 1993.
