HapPIER Hanukkah

DECEMBER 18 – 26

Join PIER 39 and celebrate The Festival of Lights as we light our menorah in the PIER 39 Entrance Plaza at sundown on December 18, the first night of Hanukkah. Each of the nine branches will be illuminated over the course of the eight days observed by Hanukkah.

The copper sculpted menorah, made by artist Jeff Brees, stands nearly 9′ tall, has insets of colored glass and nine lights that symbolize the traditional flames. It is a unique sculpture that fits naturally with the outdoor ambiance of PIER 39. “It’s a piece that blends tradition with a more modern, organic style,” said Brees. “The overall effect was intended to preserve the flames found in the origin of the holiday and marry it to the sense of beauty and wonder found during the holiday season.”
