Step off into the best of San Francisco and Northern California with easy day trips that take you from iconic landmarks to scenic coastlines — all beginning right here, where the Bay’s energy meets endless possibilities.

Muir Woods Walking Tour

  • Head to the California Welcome Center on Level 2 at PIER 39 to purchase your Big Bus tickets, then grab a coffee and a snack before boarding. (Arrive at least 15-20 mins before your tour departs!)
  • Board your tour bus — The route takes you across the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin County. (A perfect time for photos of the bridge and Bay!)
  • Enjoy about 1.5 hours walking among ancient coastal redwoods. (Recommended trails: Main Trail Loop for first time visitors, Bohemian Grove Loop for extra tree time)
  • Get dropped off back at The PIER for a delicious meal with a view, some unique shopping, and extra fun. 

Golden Gate & Sausalito Bike Tour

  • Head to the California Welcome Center on Level 2 at PIER 39 to coordinate your Blazing Saddles ride.
  • Check in, get fitted with your bike, helmet, lock, handlebar bag and custom route map. Listen to the brief orientation on the route and safety. (Tip: Upgrade to an electric bike for an easier time on the hills toward the bridge.)
  • Pedal the scenic, mostly flat path along the waterfront before heading up the hill and onto the dedicated bike lane on the Golden Gate Bridge with unbeatable views of SF skyline and Marin Headlands.
  • Coast downhill into Sausalito for a cute tour through the town and stop for a delicious, waterfront lunch!
  • Head to the Sausalito Ferry Terminal and catch a ferry ride back to The PIER to drop off your bike and end the day with the sea lions.

Napa Valley Wine Tour

  • Start at the California Welcome Center on Level 2 at PIER 39 to book your wine tasting tour.
  • Board your tour bus and begin the journey north over the Golden Gate Bridge, with scenic views through San Francisco and Sonoma County.
  • Arrive at the first winery to enjoy 3-5 tastings of signature varietals while learning about the winemaking process.
  • Hop back on the bus and head to the next winery for more tastings and a vineyard tour!
  • Return to The PIER and keep the indulgence going with a delicious, sit-down meal with a sunset view in the background.
