Smithsonian-Affiliated Aquarium of the Bay on PIER 39 offers a magical lens into the beautiful ecosystems of the San Francisco Bay & California Coast! The Aquarium experience includes two floors, featuring over 24,000 animals from 200+ species. Exhibits from river otters to jellies, sharks, octopuses, giant sea bass & so many more captivate visitors of all ages.
The top floor features two touch pools, one with baby bat rays and sharks with the other containing invertebrates such as anemones, sea stars, sea cucumbers, and small perch fish. The top floor also features a 360-degree view of the City of San Francisco, from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz Island to Sales Force Tower and everything in-between!
Aquarium of the Bay is open daily for General Admission from 11am – 6pm. VIP Tours featuring an expert educator are available most Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from 10 – 11am.
The Aquarium is also a fantastic venue for private events, corporate happy hours, birthday parties, proms, proposals, weddings, and so much more! New Sustainable Wine tours to Sonoma depart from the Aquarium most weekends and include experiences at sustainable wineries & distilleries.
